16-04-23 Muzikanten Marktplein, Breda

TakandBand treedt 16 april 2023 op tijdens het Muzikanten Marktplein met als thema “Oekraïne”. Een gratis toegankelijk mini-concert in Poppodium Phoenix, Breda. Zien we je daar?

TakandBand treedt op tijdens het Muzikanten Marktplein, georganiseerd door Stadspodium Breda.

16 april: muzikanten marktplein

Zondagmiddag 16 april is TakandBand aanwezig op het Muzikanten Marktplein. Het thema van de middag is ‘Oekraïne’.

De middag is bedoeld voor muzikanten die:

iets willen delen met andere muzikanten
een bandje zoeken of voor bandjes die muzikanten zoeken
een instrument willen (ver)kopen
Cd’s, demo’s of T-shirts van hun band willen verkopen
studio apparatuur willen (ver)kopen

Kortom alles is mogelijk op deze markt, de ontmoetingsplek voor muzikanten om elkaar live te ontmoeten en verhalen te delen.

Live performance: thema Oekraïne

De oorlog in Oekraïne geeft te denken over democratie, oorlog, vrede, vrijheid, mensenrechten, grenzen, veiligheid etc. Wij nodigen muzikanten, bands, singer-songwriters, spoken-word artiesten uit om deze middag op te treden in Phoenix. Van alle optredens worden korte filmpjes gemaakt. Deze filmpjes worden uiteindelijk via onze contactpersonen in Oekraïne verspreid. Het doel is empathie te tonen met de Oekraïners.

TakandBand zal vanmiddag o.a. de song “Put Him In The Can” spelen.

Waar: Poppodium Phoenix, Belcrumweg 60, Breda.

Wanneer: zondagmiddag 16-04-2023. Het Marktplein vindt plaats tussen 14:00 en 18:00.

Talking Guitars #7: Santa Cruz VA

Het is een terugkerende rubriek op deze website: ‘Talking Guitars’. Pieter vertelt, dit keer over een van zijn gitaren die van puur vakmanschap getuigt: de Santa Cruz VA. Lees mee hoe Pieter, min of meer bij toeval, direct ‘verkocht was’.

Een gitaar die speciale aandacht verdient is een vederlicht instrument met een prachtige toon, strak van lijn, geen overdadig uiterlijk een een ronduit geweldige afwerking. Alles getuigt van puur vakmanschap: de Santa Cruz VA (vintage artist).

Direct ‘verkocht’…

Ik kwam op het spoor van deze gitaar toen onze toenmalige bassist een gitaar zocht en ik meeging naar een mogelijke koop. De eigenaar liet me deze ‘solid mahogany’ Santa Cruz uit 1995 bespelen en ik was verkocht.

Een vriend is in de U.S. bij de bouwers van Santa Cruz gaan kijken en zei dat het bovenblad van ragfijn gelijnd sitka-spruce met een glasscherf tot de juiste dikte werd afgeschaafd, met de hand! Dat merk je als je deze handgebouwde gitaar vastpakt; hij is vederlicht.

Klinkt als een oude Martin…

Je kunt het wellicht in de volle, brede klank terug horen. Hij klinkt als een doorleefde, vooroorlogse dreadnought, als een oude Martin. Maar heeft toch iets heel eigens, een prachtig eigen karakter.

Zoals de makers het zelf zo mooi formuleren:

The story of the Santa Cruz Vintage Artist began in 1991, when Richard Hoover and several vintage guitar experts tried to identify what makes the pre-war Martin D-18 guitars so desirable. The Vintage Artist features and advanced, scalloped X-bracing for powerful bass, complemented by the clear tone and definition of master grade Mahogany

Een ‘real sought after’…

Deze VA gitaar is ‘custom’ (speciaal) gemaakt voor gitaristen die van een iets bredere ebbenhouten toets houden. Bijvoorbeeld voor fingerpicking, of voor gitaristen die naast hun nylon snarige Spaans model ook prettig op stalen snaren willen spelen is dit een ‘real sought after’.
