Sabil tekent Pieter

El Mehdi Sabil is figuratief kunstenaar, artiest, die we met Tak&Band ontmoetten tijdens Breda Toont van de Nieuwe Veste. Sabil kwam na afloop van de live stream naar Pieter toe en gaf hem een prachtig cadeau. Benieuwd wat voor cadeau? Lees snel verder!

Af en toe heb je van die momenten dat je bijna stil valt. Bijna, want helemaal stilvallen als muzikant is niet zo…handig.

Pasgeleden, tijdens het livestreamconcert van Tak&Band bij BredaToont van de Nieuwe Veste, hadden we zo’n moment.

Het concert was een gezamenlijk optreden, een ‘bruisend marktplein’, van vijf ‘kunstenaars’. Eén van hen was El Mehdi Sabil.

Over El Mehdi Sabil

Een korte introductie, overgenomen van zijn eigen website:

As a figurative painter, illustrator and comic strip artist, I have more than a decade of experiences in art fundamentals such as form, perspective, anatomy, colouring and composition. Through this years I’ve mastered mediums like pastel, watercolour, acrylic, oil paint and digital tools. My work represents a wide variety of compositions and illustrations with a focus on 2D character design.

Since finishing my studies at the Fine Arts Institute of Tetouan and being trained as a teacher, I have worked in parallel as a freelance artist in different projects with clients like Amnesty International, local book publishers and SMEs on illustrations, caricature and logo design.

Cadeau voor Pieter

Aan het einde van de stream, nog live ‘op zender’, komt Sabil op ons afgelopen en spreekt Pieter aan. Kijk, Pieter, dit heb ik even snel gemaakt. Het is echt maar een snelle tekening hoor, ik kan veel beter. Maar ik wil het graag aan je geven:

Fantastisch. Snel gemaakt dus, op zijn tablet (!) met ondersteuning van Adobe Photoshop en Sketchbook Pro. Wat moet deze vriendelijke jongen wel niet nog meer kunnen, als hij er écht goed voor gaat zitten?

Hij stuurde het enkele dagen na het optreden naar Pieter toe. Hoe prachtig en gedetailleerd!

Ook maakte hij een videoportret, waarin je heel goed kunt zien hoe het portret tot stand komt. ‘Silence In The City‘ is de song die je in de video hoort.
