“Everything” bestaat uit een qua thematiek heel gevarieerd scala van songs. Uiteraard zijn daar de songs waarin de liefde wordt bezongen, maar daarnaast passeren allerlei heel uiteenlopende onderwerpen de revue.

Can’t Sleep
I can’t sleep I long for sleep but the wind pulls at the panes an empty noise twists inside Thoughts stretch out for no reason they clasp for air, I’m yawning wide My hands ‘re tapping, zapping all over I’m way beyond counting sheep I simply couldn’t read any longer burning eyes, I want to sleep I want to sleep I want to sleep Help won’t help I want to sleep Feather pillows feel like stone and gravel many a storm tugs under the sheets I rub my forehead, keep tumbling over half past four and the Magpie shrieks I want to sleep I want to sleep Help won’t help I want to sleep My legs are like clutching bones in a basket out of every corner sorrows creep My shirt sticks but my feet stay cold toss that blanket, I want to sleep I want to sleep I want to sleep Help won’t help I want to sleep I can’t sleep Please………

Slow River
O, slow river, gathering water patiently, winding through my life You’ve been waiting, till the fall came when I happened to pass you by And you murmur, all forgotten rhymes you keep so long inside, While I wandered, wandered for years I wandered by O, green river, summer water you remind me of jumping your bridge Rowing up your stream, making the waterfowl so shy catching your biggest fish, And you murmur, all forgotten rhymes you keep so long inside, While I wandered, wandered for years I wandered by O, white river, the harshest winter we skated almost around the town I met friends there and learned to kiss the girls youth is just slippery ground And you murmur, all forgotten rhymes you keep so long inside, While I wandered, wandered for years I wandered by O, black river, moving surface the snow melted and thaw broke the ice Between the spring leaves, we young boys saw that you were able to take that lost girl’s life And you murmur, all forgotten rhymes you keep so long inside, While I wandered, wandered for years I wandered by I still wander by…

Island In The Sky
Eyes on the road though a heavy load Eyes on the road though a heavy load presses on my mind You know: a good woman is hard to find A white line track and the mirror is black it flashes in my eyes Rolling away from corny lies Island in the sky Back up lane against the grain trouble-shooting every day Give me good reasons why I should stay Back to you a lot of issues too Do I have a lot to loose roaming my life in truckers blues Island in the sky Rolling away leaving all the mess There you are in a splendid dress All sorrows are fading and the sun shines behind you Shall I take some time and ride in line to give it another shot But hearing your sweet voice it differs a lot Shall I give up the road and skip this load try a job of another kind A good woman is hard to find My island in the sky Eyes on the road though a heavy load Eyes on the road….

Circle All The Way
I circle all the way to you I circle all the way I pick up every stone there lay I circle all the way I landed in the middle of this It seems like ages on the way I circle all the way to you Now I’m here to stay Got lost on that winding road Got lost on the way Wide laps ain’t my favorite play And I got lost by delay I might drive into an accident I might drive into a crash Got lost on the way to you Now I’m circling too fast God knows why I’m hesitating Stumbling my way to you Blind as a black cripple bat I have to pull me trough I might linger all the way to you Might linger all the way I keep on circling all of my days I might linger all the way Counting every stone on the road Left to be alone I circle all the way to you But I’m coming home, baby I’m coming home I’m coming home……to you

Everything
Come on baby, light my fire I’m a slow train Deep down in my desire there’s a hidden chain Everything is all right Even I have to admit aging gets a remarkable grip Time won’t keep me slim and fit but your love leads the shape I trip Everything is all right Everything is fine if you let it happen Everything is easy when you smile at me Everything I do for you gives me reason Everything I do for you sets me free Come on baby, light my fire I’m a slow train Deep down in my desire there’s a hidden chain Everything is all right Thanks to you……

Let’s Say
Let’s say, I would kill a thousand people Yeah, I would kill a thousand people I would be hunted And spend my life in jail But if I would sell a million cigarettes Yes, I would sell you your smoke They say I’m a winner, where suckers fail Let’s say, I spill some acid in the river Yeah, I spill loads of acid trough the sink You would find me for a big fine, a big fine Yeah, you would find me Industries still dump toxic waste in the river They dump waste over the years through the sink It’s the logic of the system, they walk in line That makes me cry, cry, cry of grief and anger That makes me wonder why That makes me cry, cry, cry of grief and anger Well, don’t you wonder why That makes me cry, cry, cry of grief and anger That makes me wonder why That makes me cry Stand with me and cry They send a trawler over your fish grounds Swipe their nets over the beds And fish ten tons out of the sea Throwing seven tons right back Too small, wrong fish, useless crap Over board in just a snap No fish left for you and me That makes me cry, cry, cry of grief and anger That makes me wonder why That makes me cry, cry, cry of grief and anger Well, don’t you wonder why That makes me cry, cry, cry of grief and anger That makes me wonder why That makes me cry Stand with me and cry Big firms do this People in big firms do that We will be killed by the thousands Without their regret Let’s ask them as an individual person Let’s sue them as individual men People in big firms ought to do that

Land
I love the land where I was born I love the ancient cities and the sea Can it be a home for many more As it doesn’t belong to me I don’t mind about your skin or trade My heart will just be open for you There is enough to do for honest hands If you can work and enjoy it too I just need a spot for my own, you know To ease my mind and play a tune Please, take care of the land where I was born And for the children there must be plenty of room If you live in my native land Protect it from polluting and war And if someone reaches out a hand Why would you show him the door Don’t talk in terms of dark and danger Tell me about prosper and sprout Why can't we have a future together Just to feel the benefit of the doubt I love the land where I was born I love our history when it’s written true Can it be a home for many more Or does it belong to you

You Smell It
When I woke up one morning I realized I had to end this mission So I slammed the hood and jumped in my car And fired her last ignition I drove to the dealer with the Worst Buy of the Year Hey man this pretty baby is staying here He said: You smell it when you dig in it You smell it when you dig it When I walked back home the door was stuck The facade was cracked by a constructor Two containers contained our stuff Our lives were led by the wrong director The man from the building company cold blooded called You bought a house but you bought it without the walls He said: You smell it when you dig in it You smell it when you dig it Life would be a walk in the park Nobody tells you it could be dark

Love Will Win
Imagine where the valley lies where the rivers ‘re bending free Baby, you’re so beautiful going all the way with me And the long summer gives us warmth for the fall Baby please, don’t answer that call I want to enjoy you as long as I could Lay your body next to mine and linger as you would But sorrow overwhelmed us put that fright in your eye That phone call surely made us cry Our summer is over but don’t let the rain come in In the journey ahead of us only love will win And the long summer gives us warmth for the fall That river ain’t deep enough no mountain too tall I just recall our lives and our loving in the sun Baby, it was just so beautiful while the children had their fun And the storms of the winter won’t devastate our glow Even if the sunlight is that low Our summer is over but don’t let the rain come in In the journey ahead of us only love will win And the long summer gives us warmth for the fall That river isn’t deep enough no mountain too tall That river isn’t deep enough no mountain too tall

Walk Away
Why, why don’t you walk away Walk away, just while you can Oh why, why don’t you walk away Walk away, so you’re back in control If you stand alone While the nagging is going on Take the better part And step aside They sound like hollow words Scattered around like angry birds In the end they will just collide Why don’t you walk away Walk away, just while you can Oh why, why don’t you walk away Walk away, so you’re back in control So they want to move you They really want to change you Than count your blessings And let them be They just want to get rid of you But before they come too close to you Please, set yourself free Sometimes you can’t turn your back You face that one-way track You have to look the dragon in the eye No room for the pretender You won’t quit nor surrender And your power will split the sky Why don’t you walk away Walk away, just while you can Oh why, why don’t you walk away Walk away, so you’re back in control

The Last Bell
If the last bell was singing clear And the ships would sail A shot rang out on starboard Where all reassuring words failed Will you look back to remember The song we used to sing Would you think of the days and the joy we had Of the promises we gave away And sing that peaceful song just for her Once upon a time we split the earth And went for fuel and gold Spent our lifetime spending Till we gathered all what was sold But soon we got outnumbered And forgotten tales came true All was told in books and films The water was rising too And hope vanished like smoke in the sky Arriving at the very brink We all seemed vast asleep Clutching the fragments of our lives That we were still trying to keep We cared for rules to prosper But we forgot to make protecting laws Stuck, put in the saddle Polluting the naked soil Burning our future down to the ground I’m not a messenger But a singer by mistake I know that my little inside Won’t cause any brake It’s only just a tribute To the planet we just ignored Will you sing for her, my love Cause I will sing no more And the last bell is ringing in my ear
