Het is een terugkerende rubriek op deze website: ‘Talking Guitars’. Pieter vertelt dit keer over zijn Gibson Les Paul. Een ‘ouderwets vette tornado’…
‘Een ouderwets vette tornado’
Sologitaar spelen is iets waarvan ik weet dat ik daar eigenlijk te weinig skills voor heb. Toch is het geinig om te doen en toen ik een betaalbare Gibson Les Paul vond die me aanstond ging ik overstag.
Deze zwarte Les Paul Standard uit ’91 bleek eigendom te zijn van de groep Pater Moeskroen. De sologitarist van deze band bood hem te koop en ik hapte. Juist vanwege de Bigsby tremolo, de verdere looks, zoals z’n fraaie ‘tulip knobs’ en het ultieme satijnachtige deklapje in de originele koffer.
Ja het is een hele vertoning, zo’n Les Paul.
Pieters Les Paul Standard
Ik vertrouwde op wat de man vertelde van zijn optredens met deze gitaar.
Je kunt vrijwel nooit zo’n electric animal helemaal uittesten bij de aankoop. Zeker niet in de wat beperkte ruimte van de verkoopplek. Maar naast m’n vast onbeholpen gepingel vertrouwde ik op wat de man vertelde van zijn optredens met deze gitaar, hoe het krasje zo was gekomen en wat het merk Gibson waard is.
Dat bleek terecht, want thuis ontpopte het instrument zich tot een ouderwets vette tornado van geluid over de buizen van m’n Fender Twin Reverb. Toen moeten de buren zich toch regelmatig achter de oren hebben gekrabd.
Bij TakandBand kreeg de Gibson niet veel kans, want daar vervul ik toch meer een begeleidende rol. Bij enkele opnames echter eiste de Gibson toch terecht de solopartij op. Zoals te beluisteren valt bij: TakandBand Eyes On The Road

Over Open Podium Houten
Het Open Podium Houten is een initiatief dat sinds mei 2023 een platform biedt voor artistieke uitingen, met regelmatig georganiseerde open podia voor muziek en andere kunstvormen, gericht op zowel optredens als samen muziek maken en aanschouwen. Toegang is gratis voor iedereen!
Het Open Podium Houten is een initiatief van Ed Bijkerk, die tevens organisator van het podium is. Ed heeft het idee onder de aandacht van het Theater aan de Slinger / het Houtens Muziek Collectief gebracht.

Zondagmiddag 1 februari is het weer tijd om te Gluren bij de Buren. Dit keer de wintereditie. TakandBand is in Tilburg te gast bij de opvang voor mensen uit Oekraïne.
Erbij zijn? Dat kan kosteloos. Aanmelden is niet nodig. Een vrijwillige bijdrage is gewenst; 50% van de donaties wordt verdeeld over alle deelnemende acts.

Over Gluren bij de Buren
Gluren bij de Buren is een amateurkunstenfestival dat in 2026 in 62 gemeenten verspreid over Nederland plaatsvindt. Tijdens de wintereditie worden lokale podiumkunstenaars in huiskamers geprogrammeerd en tijdens de zomereditie in tuinen. Alle optredens duren 30 minuten en zijn verdeeld over alle wijken van de gemeente. Bezoekers wandelen of fietsen van locatie naar locatie, zo maken zij kennis met buurtgenoten én lokaal talent.
