collecting the money

There’s a free fight going on
in the crowded doorway
and Joey’s head 
is punched in rage

Well, Abel the single handed night porter 
is moving very slowly these days

I sat down and overlooked the scene
while changing guitars

Well, Sally the Jelly as a stripper 
appears to be sexy
and the spectators 
all burst into applause

In a riddle of the fiddle 
her twins fell to her knees
everybody, everybody 
was looking of course

The lights scattered in reds and blues 
on the band and stage
and the barman 
slightly loses control

The Jelly is caught by 
an over aged redneck with the blues
and he carries her 
out of the house just for a little stroll

or seasons which entail 
one after the other 
wrapped over together 
autumn spring and summer 

and through the crevices of the doors 
sneak in the gray white winters 
and you then from within 
in such way again and again 
seem to disappear 

far but yet 
so near

I was immediately struck by his loving words in which he describes his love for the goddess of nature. ‘Because I’m you’ immediately sounded like music to my ears and what else could I do than put Vir’s beautiful images to music and bring them out with Tak&Band. With his kind permission, of course.

An opinion is a weapon 
which I want to point out to you 
my opinion is my shield 
only do I defend myself 

Without my opinion 
I feel vulnerable because 
I want to protect us 
even though I don't know how or why 

How can my weapon 
be the same weapon

I don't know anything at all

I know nothing about conflicts 
but I simply fear 
something I don't know 
something I deform 
from a ghost into a monster 
but why should I fight? 

No one is sending me to battle

a crazy and weak thing that I only use

Ik schreef de tekst gebaseerd op mijn observatie dat wij, koningen van de sociale platforms, onze meningen graag aan anderen opleggen. Niet om de wereld te verbeteren, daar zijn maar weinigen toe geroepen, maar omdat onze persoonlijke strijd ons dwars zit.

Een mening is een wapen waarmee ik je wil treffen
mijn mening is mijn schild waarmee ik mij verdedig

hoe kan mijn wapen toch hetzelfde wapen zijn als jij
wil gebruiken en hoe kan
mijn schild jou ook beschermen?

ik weet helemaal niets
ik heb totaal geen inzicht
ik weet niets van strijd
maar ben eenvoudig bang
voor iets wat ik niet ken
voor iets wat ik vervorm
van een schim tot een monster
maar waarom zou ik strijden?

Ik hoef van niemand naar het slagveld
mijn mening is volkomen nutteloos
een gek en zwak ding dat ik alleen gebruik
als ik van binnen alleen ben
